Meet the Owner, Amy Wade, M.Ed., CCC-SLP
I started Kids Communicating, LLC after moving to Houston, Texas in 2014. Prior to moving to Texas, I was the owner of Haymarket Speech Therapy in the Washington, DC, metro area. I received my masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 1999 from the University of Georgia and my Clinical Certificate of Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2000. I have many years of experience diagnosing and treating speech and language disorders. After working in hospital in-patient and out-patient facilities, the public school system, and private therapy, I realized my passion is working with children. I have been in private practice since 2004 working with preschool and school aged children. My mission is to provide children with the skills to communicate effectively in the world around them. My philosophy is that treatment should be play-based, fun, and engaging. Since every child is unique, therapy goals and activities are tailored to each child’s specific needs. I strive to help each child improve their communication skills to their fullest, which will have a positive impact socially, emotionally, and academically. Since parents are the first and most important teachers, parental involvement is welcome and encouraged to help ensure carryover of newly learned skills.
