Testimonials From Past Clients
I highly recommend Amy Wade for speech therapy! We engaged Amy to work with my almost 4-year old son over the summer. He had been receiving speech therapy through the school program, and I did not want him to stall or regress during the summer months. Amy evaluated Seth and could only understand about 10% of what he was saying to her. She identified a number of phonological processes, including some unusual ones, and confidently felt that she could help him improve in a short amount of time.
Amy developed her recommended treatment plan and we began with sessions twice a week. Her technique seemed different than what we had been doing, as it incorporated blending and fairly complex words from the beginning. I was pleased to see his improvement with the specific words and sounds and even more so with the carry-over we were noticing in his overall speech with this approach. Seth significantly improved in a short amount of time with sessions with Amy. Family and friends have noticed that they can now understand a lot of what he is saying.
I appreciated the way Amy would create games for him to play that she thought he would like. She quickly incorporated movement with the sessions to help Seth actively learn and keep the level of fun high. Seth loved his sessions with Amy and was very proud to show her how he had improved!
Amy is very attentive to individual children and has a visible passion for helping them!
Before Amy, Seth was not very motivated in his attempts to say words correctly, but after working with Amy he is very cooperative with me to practice sounds and words- such a difference!

Since my teenage son started working with Amy, he has gained a great deal of confidence in his speaking abilities. She has given him tools and strategies that he now uses in everyday conversation. We've worked with several speech therapists over the years, but this is the one where we've seen the most progress. Amy has a special way with him and he knows he's learning when he's working with her. He actually likes going and wants to do well. She is a blessing to our family.

We discovered Amy through a recommendation through our child's preschool director. In one week's time, Amy was able to help our daughter improve her speech challenges and gain more confidence. My daughter began to autocorrect herself when she mispronounced or omitted sounds from words. Amy was also able to help my daughter make connections between letters, letter sounds, and general reading readiness skills such as rhyming, sight words, and syllables. My daughter became more willing to work with me and wanted to finish her homework for "Miss Amy".
In addition to Amy's technical speech knowledge, she has a warm and loving personality coupled with unwavering patience that just clicks with kids. Amy made a huge impact on my daughter's progress and our family's understanding of how to work with our daughter. I completely recommend Amy; we are so grateful to have found her!

My son was fortunate enough to have had Amy Wade as his speech therapist in both private sessions and when she was employed at Alvey Elementary School. Mrs. Wade is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and exhibits warmth with her patients. My son always looked forward to his weekly sessions with her and showed great progress from her therapy.

From day one, Amy put my daughter at ease and had her both playing and talking. She had struggled in her preschool class to communicate and Amy got her to practice her words and sounds without her even noticing. My daughter has blossomed under Amy’s instruction. Her ability to bond with children and reach them, regardless of their speech level, is remarkable. Even today (after graduating speech), my daughter practices her words and makes sure to do her “homework” for Miss Amy.

I have had the pleasure of working along side Amy Wade as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the school system. We worked primarily with the Preschool age to 5th grade students. She was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in the many areas (receptive/expressive language, articulation, voice and fluency) that we collaborated on as we serviced our ever growing special education population. The population that was serviced included, LD, SLD, Autism and General Education students.
Amy is a professional in every way. She was attentive to the needs of our students and demonstrated an expertise that I respected immensely. She was always prepared and collected detailed notes / data that demonstrated her students' progress. Amy was always researching and expanding her knowledge through staff development and in-service training to stay in touch with the latest therapy techniques and developments in our profession. She is definitely a colleague that I will continue to refer to on cases that I need a second opinion.

Without a doubt, Amy Wade is an incredible speech therapist. We were very pleased and impressed with her knowledge and warmth. Not only does she come highly qualified, but also has a very genuine personality. Our son truly enjoyed his sessions with her and his lateral lisp greatly improved. Amy engaged our son in such a creative way that he thoroughly enjoyed his time with her. She also took the time to provide us with activities to assist our son at home. We highly recommend Amy to any child with speech therapy needs. She is truly amazing!

We were lucky to find Amy through the school that Justin goes to. We were told through the public school that there wasn't a need to worry about his speech just yet but we didn't want to ignore the issues and have them get worse so we had him start seeing Amy twice a week. Justin immediately made great progress. In a short period of time we could understand him so much better and the pronunciation of his letters was quickly noticed. Justin loved working with Amy and when I would pick him up from school the first thing he would show me was the sticker he got from her!

We are so pleased with the progress that our son, Carson, made in working with Amy. Shortly after our son began speaking in sentences, we noticed that he had developed the habit of repeating certain words. We had him evaluated by his pediatrician and by speech experts at child find. We were assured that he did not have an issue and would outgrow this habit. A little time went by and the issue was not going away. Luckily we found Amy, and so glad we did. She quickly gave him exercises and strategies to address his issue. We very quickly started noticing how smoothly he would speak. And to top it off, he loved the sessions! Thanks Amy!

I first met Amy Wade at a Fall Festival booth at my son's preschool almost exactly a year ago. At the time, he had difficulty adjusting and transitioning in school because he lacked even the simplest verbal communication. He could master letters and numbers, but called every female "mommy", males "daddy", and would scream uncontrollably during any kind of transition. Many of the teachers were at a loss, because he would not communicate, eat most foods, or focus on a given task. I was all but convinced, as were the teachers, that my son may be Autistic. I had no clue what to do, and was disheartened during my first experience with a speech therapist who gave me the worst case scenario on the first visit. She seemed condemning, and I did not return. I was skeptical when consulting Amy, but wanted to give it another try if the therapy could help my son. Initially, his transitions were rough, and his concentration short lived. Within a few months, some amazing transitions happened with Amy working twice a week with my son. His transitions became easier, his focus stronger. His understanding of language and ability to speak in short sentences grew by leaps and bounds. The more command of language he possessed, the greater his confidence became. His personality started to become apparent, and he would eagerly run to Amy during each session. Within this year, the transformation of my son has been night and day. My hope is that by kindergarten, this will be an experience that will have molded him into the caring, thoughtful, and patient boy that the therapy has encouraged. I am thankful every day that I found Amy, and took the leap to get therapy. Anyone who has the opportunity to have Amy as a speech therapist should jump at the opportunity, in my humble opinion. She is thorough, kind, patient, gentle, loving, observant, courteous, professional, and effective beyond measure. My son and I will forever be indebted to her help.
